Over the past months I’ve seen the cases of COVID-19 continue to rise, especially within the United States. Having had the experience of traveling as a Team USA competitor and witnessing first hand the amazing capabilities of people working towards a common goal together, I strongly believe that a form of teamwork is essential when it comes to successfully achieving any goal. Since the COVID-19 pandemic puts so many individuals at risk, it is crucial for everyone to be part of this group effort of reducing its effects. By starting this campaign and encouraging the use of masks in all public spaces, I hope to do my part in slowing down this ongoing pandemic and protecting the health of our entire community.
I decided to start this campaign, because I am very passionate about the wellbeing of humanity; thus, I want to help in any way I can, big or small.
As a Team USA Olympic Figure Skater and a student at Cornell University, I’ve personally seen and felt the impact of the COVID-19 from an athletic and academic perspective. I believe that, together, we should start embracing a different mindset about masks by making it more like a challenge than a chore.
My goal for this movement is to reach as many people as possible and to help empower and inspire them.
